Dance Ballet with Orchestra Contemporary

Music has the capacity to soothe and uplift the spirit. It can evoke powerful emotions and awaken sensations. When paired with dance, the combined energy is incomparable,

Can we agree, dance and music have a codependent relationship?

As the lights go down and the first notes resonate in the hall, the dancers’ movements effortlessly start syncing with the rhythm you can easily become enraptured. Music can enrich a dance with meaning. During a performance, it can drive, guide and propel the dancer. Music has been a catalyst for some of the greatest dance productions in history.

This season, many performances hold a special place for music. Whether in Maud Le Pladec’s Silent Legacy with the rhythmic electro soundtrack composed, arranged, performed and produced by famous French DJ Chloé Thévenin, or Virginie Brunelle’s Fables, where 10 dancers are in conversation with a live pianist on stage, music is a central element. Faso Danse Théâtre’s celebratory piece will utterly enliven: C la vie, featuring seven dancers, a percussionist and powerhouse singer Dobet Gnahoré from Côte d’Ivoire. And, the captivating music of Polish composers Chopin, Penderecki, Górecki, Kilar, and Wieniawski in RWB's Jekyll & Hyde will undoubtedly give you chills – not to be missed!

Is this not music to your ears?
