All of the musicians hopping across China on the NAC Orchestra China Tour are excited to get to Beijing. While there, they'll perform Canadian composer John Estacio’s Brio: Toccata and Fantasy for Orchestra, Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.3, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 at Tsinghua University, in a performance for students, faculty and staff in the gorgeous, state-of-the-art concert hall.

The repertoire is inspiring: Edmonton, Alberta-based composer John Estacio created his Brio with the words of one of his mentors, the late Malcolm Forsyth - one of the most celebrated composers Canada has ever produced - foremost in his mind. And Mozart? Tchaikovsky? Yes, let's give both composers the title of Gold Standard in Enduring Appeal of their work. Students and faculty and their guests will be mesmerized by the repertoire, by the artistic excellence of the NAC Orchestra, and they'll get to experience it all in one of the most aesthetically brilliant campuses in China. Tsinghua University's campus was named one of the most beautiful college campuses in the world by a panel of architects and campus designers in Forbes magazine, in 2010. T. Chuang, a 1914 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, helped design the campus grounds; the influences of American architectural styles are remarkable, blending with the Chinese traditional landscape architecture and awe-inspiring science park. This incredible confluence of excellence in composition, design, nature and architecture provides a compelling setting in which to experience the music of Canada's NAC Orchestra.
