  Featuring Out Innerspace Dance Theatre

  Out Innerspace is a Vancouver-based Contemporary Dance organization founded in 2007 by directors Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond. OIS has dedicated over 10 years to creating extraordinary and integral dance experiences through uncompromising rigour and unreserved ingenuity. Full-length works Me So You So Me (2012), Vessel (2010, 2013) and Major Motion Picture (2015) have enjoyed five National Tours and performances for 23 schools through ArtStarts. Major Motion Picture is the 2014 recipient of the CanDance Creation Fund commission. OIS was a featured company at the 2017 MilanOltre Festival in Italy and celebrated as “One of the most beautiful and interesting works of the entire festival.” (labottegadelbarbieri.org).

  Their latest creation, Bygones is co-produced by  L’Agora de la danse, La Rotonde and Dance Victoria and was awarded the 2019 Crystal Dance Prize and Dance Centre Artistic Residency.  An initiative of Out Innerspace, Modus Operandi offers pivotal post-secondary contemporary dance education to young aspiring professionals and is grounds for some of Canada's most exciting new dance artists.

  Out Innerspace (OIS) est un collectif de danse contemporaine de Vancouver fondé en 2007 par ses directeurs artistiques Tiffany Tregarthen et David Raymond. Il se consacre depuis une dizaine d’années à créer des expériences de danse extraordinaires et intégrales avec une rigueur sans compromis et une inépuisable inventivité. Ses pièces intégrales Me So You So Me (2012), Vessel (2010, 2013) et Major Motion Picture (2015) ont fait l’objet de cinq tournées nationales et été présentées dans vingt-trois écoles grâce à l’organisme ArtStarts. Major Motion Picture est le fruit d’une commande du Fonds de création de CanDanse en 2014. Le spectacle d’OIS à l’affiche de MilanOltre 2017 (Italie) a été salué comme « l’une des œuvres les plus belles et intéressantes de tout le festival » (labottegadelbarbieri.org).

  Bygones, plus récente création du collectif coproduite par l’Agora de la danse, La Rotonde et Dance Victoria, a reçu le prix Crystal Dance 2019 en plus d’attirer à OIS une résidence artistique au Dance Centre de Vancouver. Modus Operandi, initiative du collectif, offre une précieuse formation postsecondaire en danse contemporaine à des jeunes qui aspirent à faire carrière dans le domaine et constitue un terreau pour les artistes de demain qui se distinguent par leur talent.

  Born in Prince George, BC, Tiffany Tregarthen's early career began in New York and Seoul followed by 2 years in Antwerp training, performing and creating in Belgium, Italy and The Czech Republic. Alongside co-directing Out Innerspace and Modus Operandi, Tiffany has created a work for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens through their National Young Choreographer Competition, toured internationally with numerous companies including Wen Wei Dance, Justine Chambers, Company 605, Beijing Modern Dance Company and has been a member of Kidd Pivot since 2013.

  David and Tiffany’s studies and early careers lead them to New York, South Korea, Brazil, The Netherlands, The Czech Republic, and Italy. Their collaboration formed during a two-year residency in Antwerp, Belgium before returning to Vancouver, Canada to form Out Innerspace and its education program Modus Operandi. They have worked at institutions including London School of Contemporary Dance, Rotterdamse Danssacademie, Fontys Danssacademie, Hansung University and NYU. Their performance careers include dancing with Justine A. Chambers, Company 605, Wen Wei Dance, and Beijing Modern Dance Company. Additionally, they have both been significant contributors to Kidd Pivot, touring internationally for 8 years with award winning works The Tempest Replica, Polaris, Betroffenheit and Revisor. Together, they create, educate, perform, mentor, produce, and facilitate residencies for dance artists.

  Née à Prince George, C.-B., Tiffany Tregarthen a débuté sa carrière à New York et Séoul, suivi de 2 ans de formation à Anvers, et à danser et créer en Belgique, en Italie et en République Tchèque. En plus de co-diriger Out Innerspace et Modus Operandi, Tiffany a créé une pièce pour Les Grands Ballets Canadiens dans le cadre de leur Concours National de Jeunes Chorégraphes, a tourné à l’international avec de nombreuses compagnies telles que Wen Wei Dance, Justine Chambers, Company 605, Beijing Modern Dance Company, et est membre de Kidd Pivot depuis 2013.

  Born in Penticton, BC, David Raymond began as a tap dancer, later forming the hip hop collective Over the Influence. His early career has taken him to Brazil, Belgium, Italy, The Czech Republic, and The Netherlands before returning to Vancouver to co-create Out Innerspace. David is the 2010 Isadora performance award winner, creates video design for dance, has toured internationally with numerous Canadian companies and is currently performing with Kidd Pivot.

  Performer Elya Grant

  Elya is a graduate of contemporary dance program Modus Operandi. She also attended Rubberbandance Group’s Domaine Forget, École de Danse Contemporaine de Montréal and the Eastman/Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s Intensive in Antwerp. Elya has worked with artists and companies such as the response., Company 605, Heather Laura Gray and Karissa Barry. She interned with Out Innerspace from 2014-2016 and has been performing, touring and creating with the company since.

  Elya est diplômée du programme de formation en danse contemporaine Modus Operandi. Elle s’est également formée à Domaine Forget avec Rubberbandance, à L’École de Danse Contemporaine de Montréal et au stage intensif de Eastman/Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui à Anvers.   Performer David Harvey

  David Harvey is a Seattle based dance artist and educator. He studied at Interlochen Arts Academy, The Kirov Academy of Ballet and the Alonzo King Lines Ballet School. Harvey then danced for Alonzo King Lines Ballet from 2007-2014, and continues his relationship with AKLB School as a returning faculty member and choreographer. He has also worked with Bobbi Jene Smith, Tom Weinberger, Sarah Foster Sproull and has been a member and collaborator of Kate Wallich’s The YC since 2015. Harvey began dancing with Out Innerspace in 2017.

  Basé à Seattle, David Harvey est danseur et professeur de danse. Il a étudié à Interlochen Arts Academy, l’Académie de Ballet du Kirov et l’École du Alonzo King Lines Ballet.   Performer Lavinia Vago

  Lavinia Vago is an Italian dance artist, performer, educator, maker, collaborator, and director based in Seattle. She experiments and creates dance works as a solo artist. Her work researches and attacks themes of disobedience, kinesthetic empathy, queerness, altered states and transcendence inside experimental soundscapes. She performed, created works and toured with SBDNY, Loni Landon Projects, Vim Vigor (NYC), RUBBERBAND, Kate Wallich / The YC, Saint Genet, Tianzhuo Chen and most recently joined Out Innerspace. She is Artistic Programming Director and Lead Teacher of Dance Church®; teaches Dance for Parkinson’s, the Rubberband Method, and workshops aimed to subvert, queer and rethink dance spaces, contemporary technique, floor work, and improvisation.

  Lavinia Vago, basée à Seattle, est une artiste, interprète, éducatrice, créatrice, collaboratrice et réalisatrice italienne. Elle expérimente et crée des œuvres de danse en tant qu'artiste solo. Son travail s'attaque aux thèmes de la désobéissance, de l'empathie kinesthésique, de l’identité queer, des états altérés et de la transcendance dans des paysages sonores expérimentaux. Elle a joué, créé des œuvres et fait des tournées avec SBDNY, Loni Landon Projects, Vim Vigor (NYC), RUBBERBAND, Kate Wallich / The YC, Saint Genet, Tianzhuo Chen et, plus récemment, avec Out Innerspace.   Eric Chad is an lighting/projection artist and show control/integration specialist based in Vancouver, B.C. Eric’s work blends interactive elements, generative design, and live tracking into his love for natural forms. Eric’s recent credits include works with Emma Portner, Electric Company Theatre, Out Innerspace Dance Theatre, Crystal Pite, Action at a Distance, Joe Ink, Plastic Orchid Factory, Shay Kubler Radical System Art, Kidd Pivot, and Chuthis. Eric is one of the founding members, and the current Technical Director of Lobe Studio in Vancouver BC, the first permanent 4DSOUND venue in North America. Eric was also a primary designer on Sanctuary: The Dakota Bear Ancient Forest Experience, and The Canadian Pavilion at the Dubai Expo. Eric received his Master of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Science from McGill University. 

  Établi à Vancouver, en Colombie-Britannique, Eric Chad est un concepteur de projections et d’éclairages, et un spécialiste des systèmes de commande de spectacles. Amoureux des formes naturelles, il s’intéresse plus particulièrement à la conception de projections interactives, à la conception générative, et au suivi de production en temps réel.   Stage Manager Jessica (Ying-Jye) Han

  Jessica Han is a stage manager, theatre technician, lighting designer and filmmaker based in Coast Salish Territories (also known as Vancouver, BC). You can find her touring with dance companies such as Co. Erasga, Company 605, Out Innerspace Dance Theatre and Raven Spirit Dance. She also works annually with Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Vancouver International Dance Festival, and Vancouver Queer Film Festival. Jessica is the 2018 recipient of the Larisa Fayad Memorial Award in Lighting Design and Technical Direction.

  Basée à Vancouver, C.-B., Jessica Han est régisseuse générale, technicienne de théâtre, conceptrice lumière et cinéaste. Elle est régulièrement en tournée avec des compagnies de danse telles que Co. Erasga, Company 605, Out Innerspace Dance Theatre et Raven Spirit Dance. Chaque année elle travaille également pour le Vancouver Folk Music Festival et le Vancouver Queer Film Festival.   Sound Designer Kate De Lorme

  Kate is a Vancouver-based Sound Artist and Designer. She graduated from UBC in 2015 with a BFA in Theatre Design and Production and has a certification in Audio Engineering. Kate’s work integrates immersive spatial sound landscapes, technology and sound healing and her designs are inclusive of high caliber recording and editing, composition, programming, live mixing and interactivity. She is the Co-founder of Lobe Spatial Sound Studio.

  Select design credits include: Major Motion Picture (Out Innerspace Dance Theatre); Epilogos, Telemetry, Feasting on Famine (Shay Kuebler Radical Systems Art); Salmon Girl (Raven Spirit Dance); Sta/g-mos (Kate De Lorme Design).

  Kate est une artiste et conceptrice sonore basée à Vancouver, C.-B. Elle est titulaire d'un BFA en Conception et Production Théâtrale de UBC depuis 2015 et d'une certification en ingénierie audio. Son travail intègre les paysages sonores immersifs en 4D, la technologie et la thérapie sonore et ses créations incluent enregistrement et montage de haute qualité, composition, programmation, mixage en direct et interactivité. Elle est co-fondatrice du Lobe Spatial Sound Studio.

  Elle a notamment créé pour : Major Motion Picture (Out Innerspace Dance Theatre); Epilogos, Telemetry, Feasting on Famine (Shay Kuebler Radical Systems Art); Salmon Girl (Raven Spirit Dance); Sta/g-mos (Kate De Lorme Design).

  Lighting Designer James Proudfoot

  From Edinburgh, Scotland where he received his initial theatre training, James has been living in Vancouver since 1993. He has contributed lighting designs for dance works to many companies.

  Originaire d’Edimbourg en Écosse où il a reçu sa formation théâtrale initiale, James vit à Vancouver depuis 1993. Il a conçu les plans lumières de nombreuses compagnies de danse.
