Based on the stunning short story by acclaimed Fort Smith, NWT writer Richard Van Camp, this arresting radio play is performed live featuring a cast of Indigenous actors. With a script adapted from the original story by Yellowknife director and actor Reneltta Arluk, I Count Myself Among Them tells the tale of one Dogrib man’s journey from his criminal connections with drug dealing gangs in B.C. to his own spiritual awakening.
The story is brought to life with original sound design by Travis Mercredi, who also conceived the project inspired by his passion to find new ways to share northern stories. Acclaimed Dene singer-songwriter Leela Gilday joins the cast for this rare, compelling evening of live “radio” drama.
Presented in association with the Ottawa International Writers Festival
