In this in-person workshop you will learn how to make a beaded pin for Red Dress Day which took place on May 5, using a single needle flat beadwork technique. Suitable for beginner beaders and experienced beaders alike, ages 16 and up. Basic sewing experience recommended.
Ticket includes both sessions and attendance is necessary in order to complete the beaded piece.
Open to Indigenous and non-Indigenous participants alike. For non-Indigenous participants we offer this workshop as a culture exchange and learning opportunity. The knowledge shared should not be used to profit off Indigenous artistic practices in the future.

About the instructor:
Mairi Brascoupe (Algonquin Anishinabeg) is the Indigenous Cultural Resident for Indigenous Theatre at the National Arts Centre. Mairi is an experienced beader, with beadwork being a key part of her multidisciplinary artistic practice.
