JoAnne Brooks of EVA Renfrew County will lead a discussion that will focus on the dynamics of gender-based, intimate partner violence and femicide in rural communities and the need to implement meaningful system changes to protect victims and to prevent future deaths. Joining her in conversation is the internationally recognized women's rights advocate and public educator Julie Lalonde, and both Faye Cassista and Lisa Oegema representing Victim's Services of Renfrew County, a non-profit volunteer-based organization which assists in providing emotional and practical assistance to people who have experienced a crime, tragic life event or community disaster.
