Descended from a lineage of Malian griots, Djely Tapa offers a repertory suspended between Sahelian, blues and electro atmospheres. In a reflection of her own musical identity, her album Barokan is a tribute to women and Africanness. Djely Tapa was named Révélation Radio-Canada Musique du Monde (2019) and Barokan was recognized at the 2020 Junos as the Best World Music Album.
