Nominated for Révélation Radio Canada 2020-2021 in the "World Music" category. Nominated Singer of the Year 2020 at the Canada Latin Awards and ADISQ Nominee for Album of the Year in the "World Music" category.

MATEO exhibits both a global pop-rock culture and an inspired blend of Afro-Latin music rooted in Colombian, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Afro Beat and Nuyorican music. Presented by the Azul Rojo Music label, the Montreal-based singer, guitarist, songwriter and composer defines, in his own way, what a modern-day Spanish-speaking artist can express in the present, wherever he may be.

Since arriving in Montreal at the age of 19, Mateo has conquered the local scene with a driving energy and refreshing sound. He is an up and coming artist of the Afro-Latin NEW VIBE scene.

Mateo has showcased his talent in numerous venues such as the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, Mundial Montréal, Festival Nuits d'Afrique, La Place des Arts de Montréal, SOFAR Sounds, among others.

On February 14, 2020, Mateo, accompanied by a group of 5 musicians, launched his solo project VENGO DE FRENTE.
