  Second Trombone, NAC Orchestra Colin Traquair

  Born in Melfort, Saskatchewan, and raised in Regina, Colin Traquair has been second trombone with the National Arts Centre Orchestra since 1989. He also played four seasons with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, and was principal trombone with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra from 1995-2002.

  Studying with Frank Crisafulli and Arnold Jacobs, he received his Master’s degree from Northwestern University in 1988 and his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1985. Additionally, he studied in Berlin with Christhard Gössling, principal trombone of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

  Colin has performed as soloist with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and in the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, and has performed with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and Symphony Nova Scotia. He is also a co-founder of the Ottawa-based Capital BrassWorks.

  Né à Melfort (Saskatchewan), Colin Traquair a grandi à Regina. Il occupe la chaise de deuxième trombone de l’Orchestre du Centre national des Arts depuis 1989. Il a aussi joué pendant quatre saisons au sein de l’Orchestre symphonique de Kitchener-Waterloo et a été trombone solo de l’Orchestre symphonique d’Ottawa de 1995 à 2002.

  Il a étudié auprès de Frank Crisafulli et d’Arnold Jacobs, a obtenu sa maîtrise à l’Université Northwestern en 1988 et son baccalauréat à la University of Northern Colorado en 1985. Par ailleurs, il a étudié à Berlin avec Christhard Gössling, premier trombone de l’Orchestre philharmonique de Berlin.

  Colin s’est produit en soliste avec l’Orchestre symphonique d’Ottawa et au Festival de musique de chambre d’Ottawa et a joué avec l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, l’Orchestre symphonique de Toronto et l’Orchestre symphonique de Nouvelle-Écosse. Par ailleurs, il est cofondateur de Capital BrassWorks, ensemble de cuivres basé à Ottawa.
