Academic Hall — University of Ottawa,133 Séraphin Marion Street,OttawaA profoundly intimate play carried by the unique voice of Josée Thibeault, La fille du facteur (“the postman’s daughter”) questions the complex relationship between the act of creation and the discovery of one’s roots. Across Canada, from Edmonton and Banff to Trois-Rivières and Montreal, a complex search for identity begins. A forward impetus conveyed through the art of narration, but also of self-narration. Thus, the story of Josée’s exile to western Canada also becomes that of her father, who stayed behind, and of relationships that are withering, scattered from one end of the country to the other. What does it take to go far away? What does it take, from the height of distance, to watch the suffering of those we love?
Zones Théâtrales is happy to have the opportunity to host a production by Edmonton’s Unithéâtre. With La fille du facteur, Josée Thibeault presents a multifaceted show that combines spoken word and performance with impressive sound and video work. An immersive experience that will take you from Quebec to western Canada, but also to the heart of your being.
