Two soaring voices, a banjo, and a vintage guitar, Ottawa's Moonfruits create some of the sweetest pop-folk around. Partners on and off stage, their winsome melodies and irrepressible charm intertwine with their penchant for writing about life's everyday miracles.
In 2015, Moonfruits’ participation in emerging artist residency program Rond Point earned them a SOCAN song award for Les Marins and a Félix-Leclerc Songwriting Residency award. The following year saw Moonfruits perform at La Nuit émergente in Sudbury, Le Festival International de la chanson de Granby (FICG) and as an official showcasing artist at Folk Music Ontario.
2017 proved a remarkable year for the bilingual folk duo. ROSEQ and FICG awards recipients at Contact ontarois, Moonfruits took part in UnisTV's Balade à Toronto, were featured live in studio during the first simultaneous radio broadcast of a bilingual show on CBC and Radio-Canada, and released their sophomore album, Ste-Quequepart.
Pulling as much from their imaginations as from their encounters on the road, this French-language folk concept album plays like a short film soundtrack. Intimate moments give way to cinematic arrangements as characters emerge and speak through song. Village in tow, Moonfruits weaves stories to transport audiences, inviting them to walk in another’s shoes and celebrate the strength of everyday people.
