The evening will feature two sets of jazz music from local pianist Steve Boudreau and his trio with John Geggie on bass and Michel Delage on drums.

The music of George Gershwin is familiar and important to musicians and audiences all over the world.  This particular project was inspired by two completely different works from Gershwin's compositional output.  The Preludes for piano, written in 1926, were recorded by the composer himself, and show rhythmic drive and excitement.  The folk-opera Porgy and Bess was written around ten years later.  The elements of blues, rhythm and sophisticated harmony are all just as appealing today.

What started as an arrangement or two for trio turned into a whole night of music, and eventually into Steve Boudreau's first trio recording, “Preludes: The Music of George Gershwin”, which was completed and released this year.
