Born of a Senegalese father and French mother, Karim Dabo has inherited the cultural richness of each, and his Afro-pop music is shaped by Western and African influences.  Raised in France, Karim moved to Montreal in 2013 and has quickly built a following based on his memorable performances at events such as FrancoFolies de Montreal and Mundial Montreal.

Karim is a socially-conscious artist whose lyrics are conveyed mostly in Wolof, a Senegalese dialect, but this young singer-songwriter’s multicultural music is delivered in a soothing, evocative style that resonates with listeners beyond the limitations of language.

This concert is part of Canada Scene’s free Scene@6 series, running at 6:00 every evening from July 2 to 23. The series showcases this country’s top folk, roots, world, and jazz artists in the NAC’s new Atrium.
