“Our northern neighbor has given us some of the best songwriters living today. You can add Lennie Gallant to the list.” Performing Songwriter, Nashville

- ≈ 45 minutes · No intermission
A native of the Acadian village of Rustico, PEI, Lennie Gallant writes and performs songs that move effortlessly between folk, country, and Celtic, always celebrating the musical heritage of his beloved home province. Lennie has recorded 11 albums that have won him a host of awards and nominations, from the JUNOs to the East Coast Music Awards to Les Prix Eloizes. His songs have been recorded by the likes of Measha Brueggergosman, The Rankins, and Jimmy Buffet, and have gone as far afield as the International Space Station aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour with Canadian astronaut Julie Payette.
These are songs that have a life all their own, at once soulful and then playful – true to Lennie’s deep Acadian roots. In between songs are his stories about the people, places, and experiences that have shaped his life, told with eloquence, passion, and an ever-present sense of fun.
This concert is part of Canada Scene’s free Scene@6 series. Running every evening at 6:00 from July 2 to 23, the series showcases this country’s top folk, roots, world, and jazz artists in the NAC’s new Atrium.
