KUZMENKO Behold the Night
BRAHMS / KUZMENKO Heirloom
BEETHOVEN Symphony No. 9

This performance shines a light on the youth of Atlantic Canada in a joint performance with Newfoundland’s extraordinary Shallaway Youth Choir, New Brunswick-born soprano Measha Brueggergosman, and the NAC Orchestra. In Part 1 of the evening’s performance, Shallaway will be joined by a group of Ottawa choristers under the direction of renowned choir director Laurence Ewashko.

Part 2 of the evening will feature Beethoven’s magnificent Ninth Symphony.

Winners of the Llangollen (Wales) Music Festival’s “Children’s Choir of the Year” trophy, the Shallaway Youth Choir, under the direction of Artistic Director Kellie Walsh, connects Newfoundland youth with the wider artistic world through choral excellence and the rich folk culture of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The San Francisco Chronicle calls Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman “a singer of rare gifts and artistic intensity.” She has been critically acclaimed by the international press as much for her innate musicianship and voluptuous voice as for her magnetic stage presence.

Co-presented by the NAC Orchestra and Canada Scene.
