“ There is an ambient desire to kill high definition and to revive black and white, to end the day with a closeup of a french kiss, with a philharmonic orchestra playing a symphony for a sick world. ” Anne-Marie White

Borrowing musical references from popular culture that are performed onstage with songs like Mercy Me by Marvin Gaye and a McDonald's advertising jingle, #PigeonsAffamés takes the audience on a nostaglic journey from the recent past, where anything was possible, to the present with its loss of direction and meaning.
The piece mixes together the spoken word, conversations on iPhones, beat box, a cappella song covers and dance segments in order to establish a relation between the public and the private, the community and the individual, all of it immensely grand yet infinitely small.
After the more intimate theatre of Écume (2011) and Déluge (2013), Anne-Marie White pursues her unique path as a playwright and director by presenting here a more radiant theatre sensitive to societal concerns, an approach seen in her last project Love is in the birds, une soirée francophone sans boule disco, presented at ZT in 2013. With #PigeonsAffamés she commingles genres in a performance in the service of her trenchant position. A rendezvous with a team of versatile and committed artists!
