Actors

We are NAC English Theatre. This is what we do.

NAC English Theatre opened its doors in 1969 with a production of George Ryga’s The Ecstasy of Rita Joe, performed by Frances Hyland, August Schellenberg, Chief Dan George, Alan Scarfe, Rae Brown, Merv Campone, Robert Clothier, Joy Coghill, Roger Dressler, Patricia Gage, Leonard George, Robert Hall, Al Kozlik, Frank Lewis, Jim McQueen, Walter Marsh, Ann Mortifee and Paul Stanley.

We have three main venues at the NAC: The 800-seat Theatre, the 300 seat Studio and the 100-seat Fourth Stage. We are also are interested in creating site-specific work outside of the NAC’s Ottawa facilities.

How do we meet you?

Throughout each calendar year, Artistic Director Jillian Keiley travels to see work, meet artists and hold auditions, sometimes with the participation of Artistic Advisors. We audition as a way of meeting actors and learning about their projects. We also see as much theatre as we can while traveling across the country, and view many videos and promotions featuring Canadian artists.

If we know your work already, we will likely not see you for an audition, but do let us know if you are interested in being considered. You may audition once every three years.

General auditions are by appointment only. Information on how to submit will be available on this page approximately three weeks prior to the audition date.
