Two World Premieres and a Major Financing Partner!

J'ai pleuré avec les chiens

The National Arts Centre’s National Creation Fund has just announced their support for Daina Ashbee’s J’ai pleuré avec les chiens, a full-evening work for an intergenerational cast of 5 female performers. This first group piece represents an important next step for this award-winning artist (Prix de la Danse de Montréal, Bessie Award for Outstanding “Breakout” Choreographer) and nurtures her evolution as one of Montreal’s most unique dance makers. Thanks to the National Creation Fund (and her multiple coproduction partners!), Ashbee has the financial support to expand her creative research, assemble a talented production team, and work with international collaborators. The World Premiere (Spring 2020) will be announced soon!

"It is with a lot of excitement that I embark on my first group creation. As an artist who has created intimate, minimalistic works meant to uncover the complex layers of energy that exist within our bodies and their capacities to move energy in space through dance, I enthusiastically create J’ai pleuré avec les chiens, my biggest project to date. With the support of the National Creation Fund, my desire to continue delving into movement, dance and the body as a vital language is made possible at greater length and depth”. - Daina Ashbee
