Known for her warm tone and natural stage presence, Quebec soprano Valérie Bélanger has earned critical acclaim, in performances on stage and in concert.
In her recent debut as Silvia in Haydn’s L’Isola disabitata with Toronto’s Voicbox:Opera in Concert, Ian Ritchie (Opera going Toronto) wrote:
“Soprano Valérie Belanger all but stole the show, her bouncy, high-spirited characterization as vibrant as her voice, adolescence personified, bright, adventurous”
Valerie starred as the feisty Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore with Jeunesses Musicales du Canada on tour. As Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro, Opera da Camera), Lev Bratishenko wrote that “Bélanger was magical as Susanna, a natural actress with a creamy voice and an easy, apparent joy.”
Recent performances include Susanna ( Le Nozze di Figaro) at Highlands Opera, Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel) and Despina (Così fan tutte) with Opera da Camera as well as Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate with Montreal’s Serenata at St. John’s chamber music concert series.
Valérie received the Louis Quilico Scholarship for IRCPA’s 2016 “Sondra Radvanovsky Encounter”.
