Thomas Brody is from Long Island, NY, and graduated from Ithaca College ‘19 where he studied double bass with Nicholas Walker. He now attends University of Ottawa ’21 pursuing a Masters with Joel Quarrington. His commitment to his craft was realized in 2014 when he was selected to the All-National Honors Orchestra, performing under Gerard Schwarz at the Grand Ole Opry. His mission is to further push the boundaries of the double bass and its role in modern day music making, no matter the style or genre. He has commissioned a new piece for double bass, performed Dana Wilson’s Double Bass Concerto, composed in 2014, and is passionate about teaching and sharing new ideas. To become a mature artist, mastering both technique and musical expression, is his dream, but his ultimate goal is to connect with others by expressing what’s inside his heart through the voice of the double bass.
