Acadian-born creator and teacher Mathieu Chouinard studied theatre at the University of Moncton, the École supérieure de théâtre at UQAM, and the École internationale de théâtre Jacques Lecoq (Paris). As co-artistic director of Satellite Théâtre in Montreal, he uses physical and visual theatre to build bridges between languages, cultures and theatrical forms. He has received three awards from the Fondation pour l’avancement du théâtre francophone au Canada, and the Theatre Artist of the Year award at the 2012 and 2016 Éloizes Gala. Fascinated by intercultural projects and curious about Elsewhere, Mathieu has presented his work on four continents. He recently participated in a collaborative project in Chad with the association Ndam Se Na, exploring theatre and dance as tools for learning and peace within refugee populations. Zones Théâtrales audiences will remember him for his roles in Mouving, Bouffe, and Les Trois Mousquetaires Plomberie. He is the author of Comme un seul Grům, presented at ZT 2017.
