Djennie Laguerre

A graduate of the Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting and the University of Ottawa Theatre Department, Djennie Laguerre is an actor, writer and storyteller. She has also been an educational artist for the Ontario Arts Council for 15 years. Her acting credits include roles in Espoir/Espwa, Le malade imaginaire, Les Zinspirés and Les Zinspirés 3D (Théâtre français de Toronto) and Rendez-vous Home/Lakay (Black Theatre Workshop), which she also wrote. She wrote and performed Manman la mer (Théâtre Catapulte), which premiered in Ottawa in February 2020 and was presented at the MASA festival in Côte d’Ivoire in March 2020. The show won two awards at the 2020 Prix Rideau Awards: Production of the Year and Performance of the Year. Her plays Manman la mer and Rendez-vous lakay are published by Éditions Prise de parole. Djennie is an associate artist with Theatre Direct in Toronto (2021–22) and Théâtre de la Vieille 17 in Ottawa (2021–24).
