NAC Presentation

I have no reason to cry, just to scream.

Albertine is consumed with rage; her tragedy is her inability to escape her own fury.

Michel Tremblay’s renowned play portrays the same woman at five different times in her life. At 30, Albertine is passionate. At 40, she explodes. At 50, she starts her life over. At 60, she succumbs to depression and prescription drugs. And at 70, she seems resigned. An observer of her own life, a prisoner of her own fate, she screams out her despair across the years.

Bearing the unmistakable stamp of Michel Tremblay’s monumental talent and lively, colourful imagination, this composition for five voices probes the depths of a woman’s alienation and anger. Lorraine Pintal directs an outstanding cast in this moving theatrical masterpiece.
