Yefim Bronfman, Pinchas Zukerman and the NAC Orchestra, February 6 & 7, 2013

Question and Answer with Pinchas Zukerman:

Q: Maestro Pinchas Zukerman, you are about to perform at the National Arts Centre with your longtime friend, pianist Yefim Bronfman. How did this friendship begin?

A: “Fima, I’ve known since he was 15. I was 19 when he first came to New York from Russia. I heard him play at 15. I was mesmerized then; I’m mesmerized now. He is a giant - almost without equal today. He’s one of the great pianists of our lifetime."

Q: How do the two of you communicate in performance, having developed years of experience in gauging one another’s musical instincts?

A: “It’s been an unbelievable experience, a wonderful experience to be with him, to work with him, to play with him; it’s just been amazing.”
