NAC Orchestra musician Colin Traquair was browsing in the Porcelain Market in Chongqing when viola player Paul Casey approached him and said "There is a stunning woman in the market - you must take her photograph." They walked down the alley and immediately Colin knew the person Paul had spoken of. She had the type of face that photographers dream of capturing.

The tiny old woman had a beautiful face etched with deep wrinkles and laugh lines. Her eyes twinkled as she laughed making those around her smile. All this natural beauty was framed by a deep red hat. The old woman was just as taken with Colin as he was with her and wanted to have a photo taken of them together.

About 15 minutes later Colin encountered the woman again. This time she took his hand and led him with confidence down the alley. She knew exactly where she wanted to take him — a small cafe for lunch! They were joined by one of her relatives who did not seem at all surprised by her outgoing and friendly nature towards this 'bearded, white giant' of a tourist.

"Honestly, for the rest of the day I was just stunned," says Colin. " She is a friend I will never forget."
