We’ll be pouring wine starting at 6:45 p.m. in the NAC Theatre Lobby. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m.Beverages will be allowed inside the NAC Theatre for this special event.

Biography
The last few years have brought upon many celebrated achievements in Royal Wood’s career. Since being proclaimed the “Songwriter of the Year”, by iTunes in 2008, Wood has continued to evolve and hone his musical craft – maintaining an unmistakable identity while uncovering and reinventing his sound.

Proclaimed a prolific songwriter and one of Canada’s major talents by critics, fans and the industry alike, Wood will release his 5th studio album “The Burning Bright” on March 18th. The album registers a number of firsts for Wood, whose chart-topping 2012 release, the JUNO Award nominated We Were Born To Glory, firmly established him as one of the country’s most accomplished alt-pop singer/songwriters, producers, arrangers and multi-instrumentalists.

Breathtakingly poignant “The Burning Bright”, captures his truest, most confident musical voice even as it chronicles an extraordinary year of tumult, travel and personal discovery. Written in Ireland and Los Angeles, and recorded in both LA and Toronto, the album showcases a deeper and more introspective side of Wood, and finds him collaborating in new ways – continuing to break boundaries as an artist.

His latest single “Forever and Ever” was the #1 added song at HOT AC Radio in Canada and a Top 20 hit on CBC Radio 2. Making its debut in the fall of 2013 the track reached Top 5 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Chart and was chosen by the LCBO as the theme song for SHINE [On], their largest annual promotion and marketing campaign.

His music has also been featured in several TV and Film productions, including major television shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, bringing his sound to a variety of audiences.
Greatly admired, Wood’s records have been released worldwide on Maple Music Recordings/Universal, Rounder Europe and Toy Town Records in the UK, and he has successfully toured in Canada, USA, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Switzerland, UK, Ireland and Italy. Wood has also supported national tours with David Gray, Sarah Harmer and Serena Ryder and has headlined venues across the world – selling out dates along the way.

Peter Katz

2012 JUNO Nominee, Emerging Artist of the Year nominee at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and Winner of the CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award, recording artist Peter Katz captivates listeners with his brand of contemporary folk-pop music. Playing 150+ dates a year all over the world, Katz’s remarkable grassroots efforts have resulted in him selling over 20,000 copies of his discs and sharing the stage with such notable artists as Glen Hansard, The Swell Season, Joel Plaskett, Bahamas, Royal Wood, Dan Mangan, The Good Lovelies, and the legendary Garth Hudson from The Band. Peter’s 2010 studio record ‘First of the Last to Know’ debuted at #1 on the iTunes singer-songwriter charts and features a guest appearance by Academy Award Winner Glen Hansard (The Swell Season, ‘Once’), JUNO Award Winners The Good Lovelies and Melissa McClelland (Whitehorse, Sarah Mclachlan). 2011 saw Peter release a live CD/DVD entitled “Peter Katz and Friends: Live at the Music Gallery”, an intimate snapshot of Peter doing what he does best, playing for a room full of people. The concert was recorded in front of a sold-out crowd and reveals an artist at home on the stage, connecting with an audience like few performers can.  It also earned him a JUNO nomination for Music DVD of the Year. Peter’s most recent studio album, 2012’s ‘Still Mind Still’  features some of his best writing to date and was recorded in a cabin in the Southern Ontario countryside with Juno Award winning and Producer of the Year Award recipient (Canadian Folk Music Awards) Rob Szabo. After completing 3 successful national and international tours in support of ‘Still Mind Still’ including a co-headline European tour with Royal Wood, Peter has now shifted gears to start recording his next studio album, co-produced by Royal Wood and Bill Lefler (Ingrid Michaelson, Carey Brothers, Dashboard Confessional).
