Summer at the NAC: Activities Wind Down. Renovations Ramp Up. Parking Remains Open 24/7. Free NAC Orchestra Concert on Canada Day

Activities at the National Arts Centre will slow down significantly between July 1 and October 3 as major renovations ramp up for the summer break. Although the parking garage will remain open 24/7, most of the NAC foyer will not be accessible and le café restaurant will be closed until October 4, 2016.

During the summer hiatus, the NAC’s Satellite Box Office, located at 54 Elgin Street (at Queen) will be open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The onsite NAC Box Office is now closed for renovations.

CANADA DAY AND JAZZ FEST

Exceptionally this year, the NAC’s traditional Canada Day activities will not take place with the building being closed that day. However, music lovers will be happy to hear that the NAC Orchestra, under the baton of its Music Director Alexander Shelley, will perform a free Canada Day concert on the main stage in Confederation Park at 7 p.m. as part of the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival. Please note that TD Ottawa Jazz Festival performances at the NAC will take place as scheduled from June 22 to July 3 in the Studio, Theatre and the newly created Back Stage. For more information, visit ottawajazzfestival.com.

SUMMER RENOVATIONS AT THE NAC

The NAC parking garage will remain open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the renovation, with the Elgin St./Slater St. and Albert St. as the recommended entrances.

Renovations will shift into a dramatic new phase in early July with the erection of the steel structure for the new NAC addition and the first-ever retrofit of Southam Hall. For renovation updates, a webcam and project timeline please click here or visit nac-cna.ca.

Tickets for the 2016-2017 NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre,  French Theatre and NAC Presents series go on sale to the general public on September 6, 2016. Subscription packages are currently available. Performances at the NAC resume on October 5, 2016.
