Third Wolfgang Session set to sizzle in the final act of the Season The NAC Orchestra and Mercury Lounge present Music with a Wild Side

(Ottawa ON)-- The temperature is sure to rise, on Saturday July 11 at 10:00 p.m., when members of the NAC Orchestra heat things up in a performance of sultry, electrifying music by acclaimed female composers from the UK, Canada and New York’s indie classical scene for an unforgettable evening at Mercury Lounge in the Byward Market.

The third and final WolfGANG Session of the season is co-presented by the Mercury Lounge, in partnership with the Arboretum Festival, and will combine a mix of contemporary and indie classical music with lively collaborations between NAC Orchestra musicians, video projection artists and DJs.  Together, this sizzling combination will push classical music out of its comfort zone energizing Ottawa’s music scene.

The repertoire will include an enticing array of works by Missy Mazzoli, Sarah Kirkland Snider, Tansy Davies, Marie-Pierre Brasset and Jocelyn Morlock. The mood of the evening is casual and attendees are encouraged to share the experience on social media by using the hashtag #WolfGANGSessions.

As Clarissa Klopoushak explains, the WolfGANG Sessions are a fun way for people to enjoy an evening of exceptional music without the traditional formalities surrounding an orchestral performance.  “This is not like Mozart who is fantastic. This is not like Brahms who is amazing. It’s nothing like that. It’s less than an hour of music. It’s not a commitment of time that you have to really concentrate. Enjoy your drink, listen, and let the music wash over you. There’s no particular advice, or guideline, or rule. Or anything like that. I think if you like music, then this is a great concert to come to,” says NACO violinist Clarissa Klopoushak.

Violinist Carissa Klopoushak will be joined by NACO musicians Noémi Racine Gaudreault on violin, Jethro Marks on viola, Thaddeus Morden on cello, Joanna G’froerer on flute, Sean Rice on clarinet, Lawrence Vine on horn, Steven van Gulik trumpet and Vincent Parizeau on the electric guitar.

Doors open at 9:00 p.m. and the evening kicks off at 10:00 p.m. Tickets are available in advance for $15 dollars or at the door for $20.  Mercury Lounge  is located at Located at 56 Byward Market.
