Stravinsky’s Firebird launched the composer to international fame, and music from the ballet continues to enchant audiences. An exotic scenario, vibrant orchestral colours, and harmonies from primitive to luminous make for a spectacular concert experience.
Music Director Designate Alexander Shelley is joined by Benjamin Grosvenor, whose “gifts are already distinctive: poetic, romantic, almost old-school.” ~ Times of London), performing Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto, a showcase for the pianist’s technical prowess and poetic lyricism.
