This language, mingled and manifold, novel and noisy, cacophonous at times, asks only to be housed in a body
This memory, pulsating and volatile, journeys through the skies in search of a refuge
This flesh awaits the word to give it life, impulse, movement
This murmur of words precedes the silence, the darkness
This moment is a void where everything is in suspension.

Theatre exists in those nooks and alcoves, in those shadows and silhouettes, in that vacant space
Where, hand outstretched, movement will emerge and speech will appear, vibrating in the air and the light
While we watch, attentive and silent, captive in the darkness and the heat of others, ready to open up, to be shaken up
At the very moment when, with beating heart and stomach in knots, we contemplate the confrontation with the unfamiliar, the shock of an encounter with the unknown, accompanied perhaps by battle or defeat
We are asked to let go of that part of ourselves to which we are violently attached – our convictions, our past, our culture.

It is only later, once we have abandoned the struggle with the Other, that we will have yielded to a new language, to an unfamiliar look at the world, a disturbing strangeness
It is thus after that upheaval (from which we do not emerge unscathed)
That we return to reality
A bit more human perhaps.

A Shared Landscape

In imagining this first season, I dreamed of a landscape.

Imagine a boundless space that welcomes highly diverse forms, a place where, like a beautiful forest, contrasting elements live in harmony.

We would like to welcome you and your students to this vast field of discovery rich in surprise and wonder, in questioning and the pleasure of the senses. Let’s enjoy this adventure together!

When planning your visit to the theatre, let yourself be inspired by the title of a play, or by an artist or a phrase describing one of the pieces being presented. You’ll be venturing toward an encounter of ideas, impressions, images and worlds that are more or less familiar.

The only baggage required for the journey is confidence, a curious mind and a sense of trust. I’ll be there (or an artist or a member of my team will be) to accompany you, helping to share the experience and to enjoy this exciting adventure.
