““Mating rituals can never have looked more artfully sexy, nor can tango have ever been given a fonder or more imaginative makeover. What a treat.”” Mark Monahan, The Daily Telegraph (London), November 8, 2013

The perfect romantic treat for Valentine's Weekend

In m¡longa, internationally revered wunderkind Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui collaborates with an incredibly talented cast of Argentinean dancers and live musicians to create a show that brings his own unique style to tango. Featuring 12 superb dancers and 5 musicians, the work is a celebration of tango’s eternal embrace, an homage to its birthplace, and an exuberant display of innovation. Cherkaoui captures the drama of a traditional milonga and infuses it with modernist staging and exquisite, contemporary vocabulary. Dancers strut and  flicker across the stage like forked lightning” (The Guardian), their swivelling legwork at times mesmerizing. A fresh and electrifying work ultimately about the intensity and joy of dancing together.

Come Tango with Us!
Join us after the February 14 show for a post-performance milonga in the Southam Hall lobby.
Led by Brigitte and Francis Caron of Ottawa’s Siempre Tango.
