Carmen, by British choreographer Richard Alston, is graceful and sensuous yet lightning fast, an enthralling ballet, performed on pointe, set to a sharp, fresh adaptation of the iconic score by Georges Bizet.
The stunning Symphonic Dances – created for MCB by ballet superstar Alexei Ratmansky, who also choreographed the lusciously romantic Romeo and Juliet for The National Ballet of Canada – is dramatic and fast-paced, set to Sergei Rachmaninoff’s powerfully fiery score.
This program also includes Balanchine’s exhilarating Tschaikovsky Pas de Deux.
