Pierre Tanguay (drums – Montreal)
David Braid (piano – Toronto)

Roddy Ellias
Guitarist and composer Roddy Ellias began improvising on his grandmother’s piano at
the age of six and started playing the guitar at age twelve. His music draws from so
many musical influences it defies labels. Roddy has performed with and written music
for many internationally acclaimed jazz and classical artists including Lee Konitz, Kenny
Wheeler, Tom Harrel, Lonnie Smith, Nat Adderley, Cleo Laine, Pepper Adams, Anne
Akiko Meyers, I Musici, the Montreal Symphony, the National Arts Centre Orchestra,
Michel Legrand and many more. His current projects include recordings and performances with Marc Copland and Adrian Vedady, The Roddy Ellias Trio, The Walrus Quartet (with David Occhipinti, Ted Quinlan and Kim Ratcliffe) as well as solo works.

“Exquisite … a most thoughtful soloist … the kind of subtlety you don’t often hear …
anywhere.” Mark Miller, Canadian jazz critic and author

“Positively brilliant.” Bill McBernie, Planet Jazz

“Nothing was more beautiful that Ellias’ piece Too Far, which when it was done created in
the crowd a silence that spoke volumes before applause did ensue.”
Peter Hum, jazz
musician, critic and blogger

Pierre Tanguay
Percussionist, composer and an optimistic inventor, Pierre Tanguay is one of the busiest musician on the Quebec music scene. Since the early 80’s, he has been a regular member of many ensembles such as JEAN DEROME ET LES DANGEREUX ZHOMS, ÉVIDENCE, CASTOR ET COMPAGNIE, TRIO JEAN-FRANÇOIS GROULX, L’ODD, VILLEMURE Ô CARRÉ, ENSEMBLE PIERRE CARTIER, PROJET RIEL. He has been collaborating in a number of projects with Jean Derome, Normand Guilbeault, Pierre Langevin, René Lussier, Karen Young, Fred Frith, Michel Donato, Daniel Mille, André Duchesne, Antoine Berthiaume. An accomplished musician, he is just as happy playing jazz, musique actuelle, medieval or traditionnal music. He is co-founder of STRADA, MIDI TAPANT, DEROME/TANGUAY, and has written music for dance (Lucie Grégoire, Andrew de L. Harwood, Irène Stamou, Francine Gagné), for theatre and films (Allan Booth, Imago, Roberto Ariganello).  He is frequently touring in Canada and Europe.

David Braid
Hailed in the Canadian press as "a jazz genius to call our own" (MacLean's Magazine), two-time Juno Award winning pianist and composer David Braid has a style described by Paris Transatlantic Magazine as “refreshingly uncategorizable.” Braid has performed across The United States, Canada, Western Europe, Scandinavia, Asia, Australia, and Brazil.

Combining harmonic intricacies fundamental to European classical music, the spontaneity of American jazz, and the cultural open-mindedness of Canada, Braid's original music impresses audiences with its originality, melodic lyricism, compositional intelligence, and engaging rhythm.

“Braid's tone, touch, chord voicings and imagination make him one of the most interesting new pianists I've encountered in a long time” - Doug Ramsey, recipient of Jazz Journalists Association's Lifetime achievement Award

His most recent focus is performing a solo program documented on the 2012 Juno-winning CD, VERGE; other notable coverage includes Daniel Berman's series "Solos: the Jazz Sessions" (Original Spin Media) along with pianists Jacky Terrason, and Brad Mehldau.
