John Geggie

John Geggie is greatly in demand as a versatile musician (double bassist) and creative composer both in Canada and internationally. He has been the curator and programming director of the Geggie Series for thirteen years.
For over ten years, he has hosted the Late Night Jam Sessions at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival. He has also toured extensively with the award-winning jazz group Chelsea Bridge and the JUNO-nominated D.D. Jackson Trio. He has also recorded or performed with a many of the top names in creative improvised music: Jon Christensen, Ron Miles, Joel Frahm, Andy Milne, Marc Copeland, Vic Juris, Ben Monder, George Colligan, Craig Taborn, Sheila Jordan, David Murray, Andrew Cyrille, Donny McCaslin, Matt Brubeck, Ted Nash, Billy Hart, Marilyn Crispell, Myra Melford, Bill Carrothers, Cuong Vu and bassist, Mark Dresser.  Previously, he has performed at various international festivals including in Rouen and Maubeuge (France), in Molde
(Norway) and throughout the United States. Geggie has also participated in the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival. In addition, he continues to maintain a busy concert schedule with the 13 Strings Chamber Ensemble and is involved in many recording projects. He performs regularly with the National Arts Centre Orchestra. John is on faculty at the Crane School of Music, State University of New York (SUNY Potsdam) and has students at both Carleton University as well as University of Ottawa. This winter, the Thirteen String Chamber Orchestra premiered his most recent composition, St.Andrews' Vibrations as part of their 2012-201 season.

Jean-Nicolas Trottier

Jean Nicolas Trottier has been active on the Montreal jazz scene since 2000 as a composer, arranger, trombonist, and leader of the Jean Nicolas Trottier 4tet (which toured Europe and released an eponymous album in 2010 on the Effendi label), the Jean Nicolas Trottier 10tet, and the Jean Nicolas Trottier Big Band (eponymous album released in 2009).

He has performed and recorded with several Montreal jazz ensembles, including the Joe Sullivan Big Band (Stop and Listen, Northern Ontario Suite), the Christine Jensen Jazz Orchestra (Treelines, winner of a 2010 JUNO), the Richard Gagnon Trombones Actions (Intro, Suite—with Steve Davis), ID (eponymous album), and Public Transport Project (eponymous album). He has also worked with Samuel Blais (New Angle), NOBASS TRIO, and Novus 9, as well as Quebec jazz greats Vic Vogel, Lorraine Desmarais, Alain Caron, Bernard Primeau, and many more.
 

Tom Gossage
Thom Gossage has appeared on numerous c.d. s during his career as a composer and drummer/percussionist. He also directs his critically acclaimed group Other Voices, whose fifth c.d. In Other Words is  available on Songlines recordings. He has performed in numerous improvised music settings including associations with Drew Gress, Benoit Delbecq, Tom Arthurs, Francois Houle, Dave Binney, Kurt Rosenwinkle, Ben Monder, Wolter Weirbos, Steve Swell, and Christine Jensen. His multiple collaborations with renowned musicians and his work with contemporary dance demonstrate his willingness to push the boundaries of his own artistic practice. A long term collaborator of Van Grimde Corps Secrets, Thom Gossage contributed as a composer and musical director artistic consultant on over ten dance pieces performed in Europe and North America.

Frank Lozano
Ottawa native Frank Lozano studied at Humber College with Pat LaBarbera and in Boston with Jerry Bergonzi. Performances at the Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver Jazz Festivals with Tito Puente, Oliver Jones and Montreal Jazz Big Band featuring Miles Evans, are among his credits. After touring Czechoslovakia with Sound Image Theatre in 1990, Frank moved to Montreal where he joined the Bernard Primeau Jazz Ensemble. Frank plays with the Montreal Jazz Big Band, Fact, the Altsys Jazz Orchestra, Avalon Motel and the Eric Harding Quartet to name but a few. Frank completed a Master of Arts Degree in Jazz Performance at MCGill University where he is currently teaching saxophone and jazz pedagogy.
