This night is devoted to two symphonies. The first is a specially commissioned piece to celebrate our 50th anniversary. This world premiere piece, by Ottawa composer Kelly-Marie Murphy, titled Blue on Blue, features Richard Margison as tenor soloist and is inspired by a tragic friendly fire incident that took place during the war in Afghanistan. Our other offering is the old and beloved Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique symphony — a work of passion and devastating loss.
