Southam Hall,1 Elgin Street,Ottawa,CanadaPre-concert music, 7 pm: Join us in Southam Hall before the main show for a recital of Beethoven’s Sonata for Violin and Piano no. 7 in C minor performed by Yolanda Bruno (violin) and Karim Said (piano).
Music from three centuries and four countries—all in one evening… from Haydn’s “Hen” Symphony with its merry “clucking” to Bartók’s Divertimento for Strings, a spicy combination of Hungarian flavours, folk tunes, and peasant dances, starring our orchestra’s string section.
Out in front of that string section is Jessica Linnebach - Associate Concertmaster of the NAC Orchestra and an accomplished solo violinist with a dazzling intensity.
Jessica will perform the Summer and Winter movements of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Jessica replaces Norway's exceptional trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth as headliner for this concert; Ms. Helseth has cancelled her touring for the coming months.
Rounding out this sumptous night of music - Polish composer Witold Lutosławski’s sonorous hommage to Bartók.
